Keeping topics relevant to residents of Bukit Jelutong
The establishment of http://bukitjelutong.net was to serve the residents of Bukit Jelutong in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
The idea was that content on this site would be entirely user generated. The rationale is so that (1) no one person is burdened to continuously update the content on this site; (2) we do not need to hire writers to post content. We would open the site up to anybody to post content based on the principles below:
- relevance to residents
- builds the community
- adds value to the community

masakan kampung - Ulam desa @ d'pangkin
Submitted by TheFazz on 9 November 2009 - 9:41pmi tried out the food at the new eatery at d'pangkin - "ulam desa".
ulam desa took over from the spice garden and brings a much needed masak kampung flavour to the area.
i had ikan (siakap) bakar & nasi lemak one night. the ikan bakar was nice. a bit pricey though ~ RM21. i understand that the place has lauk asam pedas during lunch time, but have not tasted it.
do share your experiences here.

Maintaining that it has valid reasons to ganyang Malaysia, Bendera’s leader reveals details of its planned invasion on Oct 8. Should we be worried?
JAKARTA’s forestry department was the most unlikely place to meet an Indonesian man who was six days away from waging a war against Malaysia.
But that was where my Indonesian journalist friend Samiaji Bintang brought me for a face-to-face interview with Adian Napitupulu, a 38-year-old Batak man spearheading a vigilante group that has vowed to ganyang (crush) Malaysia.
Rules of gated, guarded living
Submitted by yaroq on 30 September 2009 - 6:36pmTaken from NST, Streets Central dated 30 Sept 2009
The guidelines for gated and guarded community in Selangor are based on conditions spelled out by the state Housing and Property Board. They are:
- Neighbourhood representatives must register their residents' associations with the Registrar of Societies.
- Eighty per cent of residents must consent to the setting up of a gated and guarded community.
- Boom gates are allowed to be closed only from midnight to 6am daily and security guards have no power to stop a vehicle from going into an area.
It's not a matter of choice

Parents in SS19/1 can be assured of their children’s safety with the guarded community service in the neighbourhood.
KUALA LUMPUR: More communities are resorting to putting up boom gates and hiring security guards in an effort to check the rising crime rate in their neighbourhoods.
While the move, generally, has the support of the majority, some residents are irked by it as they say it is an inconvenience.
Thinking of combining the bukit jelutong community sites
Submitted by TheFazz on 29 September 2009 - 9:56amfolks
i have 3 community sites running for bukit jelutong:
http://www.bukitjelutong.net
http://greenlane.bukitjelutong.net
http://education.bukitjelutong.net
the greenlane site is the most active and is the one that seems to attract users who live from all parts of bukit jelutong (and shah alam too!).
