Sawah Padi Ride - 8 March 2009
Salam and good day to all,
Last Sunday; my brother, my brother in law and myself (representing Bukit Jelutong?) joined the Putrajaya Easy Riders (PER) group for a ride at Sungei Sireh, Tanjung Karang, Selangor.
We met at Elmina (North) R&R on the Guthrie Corridor Expressway at 6.00 am for solat subuh before moving in a convoy to Sg Sireh. It was approx 1.5 hours drive.
The ride took place in a beautiful padi field areas of Sungai Sireh, Tanjung Karang. The riding distance was around 30 km. There were approx 30 riders ranging from a 13 year old girl, 2 'iron ladies' makciks, a S'gor junior cyclist, pensioners etc etc.
It was our (the 3 of us) longest ride. Luckily it was on flat road to cater for the roadies in the team. However, majority of us wanted to 'test' our mountain bikes riding skill, took the unofficial gravel route beside the field. I had my first fall when I tried to 'kona lipat like Valentino Rossi'. Luckily, I escaped with minor scratches.
It was fun and it was the most interesting ride so far. Please read our adventures in http://seri-kepayang.blogspot.com/ and http://www.putrajayaeasyriders.blogspot.com/.
We plan to join PER's future activities once monthly. They are very friendly and the rides are not that tough, so far.
So, join us if you have time. For first timer, pls cycle around BJ for next 2 months. Make sure you cover min 10 km per ride. Alternatively, you can join us on weekends for cycling around BJ. However, you may need to have a decent bike or you may find it very punishing and cannot cope with the rest.
Last but not the least, I find that riding is more fun than jogging / brisk walking and has become part of my healthy living activity. Jom kayuh....
