Neighbours, family and friends are all we have ...

Reading through yaroq's recent posting : Maybe this is why we do not mix lately, it got me thinking that some times I am not really sure what I should be chasing for in life. I guess others have got it together in their own plans of life, but I am still trying to sort things out for myself and my family. Anyway, that is not what I wanted to write about ...

My maid ran away yesterday (just had her working for us for over 6 months now). My brother Fahmy's (security chief) maid also ran away but this happened 2 weeks ago. Their modus operandi appear the same ... obviously they know the same transporter who has been taking them out of Greenlane. Life is pretty shi**y for me right now but that is also not what I wanted to write about ...

When my maid left the house for freedom ... she took the house keys along with her ... leaving my one year old boy alone and locked up in the house. It was my neighbour, Saratha (the house facing mine) who called me to alert me that they had witness a taxi suspiciously hanging around my house for a long period of time. And it was my neighbour's maid (the house behind me - Amir's house), that came over to see whether my son was ok and whether my other kids who had just come home from school were ok too. (I hope Amir doens't mind her leaving the house). And subsequently, it was my brother Fazz's maid who came by to locate our spare keys which had been hiddens somewhere to rescue my son and take charge of all my kids.

Ok ... we couldnt stop the maid from running away. the damage had been done, but seeing my neighbours, my family and my friends coming to my aid in what ever way possible restored my hope in humanity a little bit (I have always been the cynical type).

Maybe there is still hope for us Greenlaners in the sense that we do look out for each other in times of need.
